Funding explained clearly
We help with Attendance Allowance
Attendance Allowance is money for people over State Pension age who need a little extra help at home.
It's not means-tested, and it doesn't affect your State Pension.
Attendance Allowance
£5,959
the highest rate every year, for as long as it is needed
Common Misconceptions
We have savings, so we won't qualify.
Attendance Allowance isn't means-tested. Savings, investments and property make no difference to it.
I checked online and it said no.
The online checker only covers a short list of questions. It can't ask how someone manages at night, how long a meal takes, or what a bad day looks like. Those details are often what decide a claim.
We're coping fine for now.
You may be coping at the moment, however there is support available that you may not have realised, which can help with day to day struggles.
We already claim it.
Worth checking you're on the right rate. We regularly find families on the lower rate who should be on the higher one.
Testimonials from our customers
It’s just as well I came across you guys… Hallelujah! Oh brilliant… you just didn’t realize there was all the help out there. Please get this service out there, that’s really good.
Good Lord, I’d never have thought of that, it’s a good job we’re talking to you. Smashing, thank you very much indeed.
The care advocate was really empathetic and compassionate on our call, and I was really grateful to be able to have the chat about our circumstances. The follow-up appointment for my mother’s memory assessment at the hospital has been made for next month so at least there is some progress.
I thought I would just let you know that Mum passed away on Friday and I would like to thank you for all your help and support in the funding that she was able to have. I would certainly recommend KareHero to anyone who needed help in funding.
KareHero has guided me through finding care for my elderly mum who has dementia. The care advocate has been respectful and kind throughout, available whenever convenient, and given me direction on otherwise-confusing matters like engaging Adult Social Care and what to expect from a financial assessment. That’s significantly reduced the stress and anxiety of what is a very emotional time, knowing there’s someone there every step of the way has been a huge support.
It was really beneficial to talk to someone who could explain things in a simple way. Government websites can be extremely complicated and confusing, with information found in various places, making it difficult to know your rights. The fact that KareHero can offer support with difficult conversations and meetings is great.
We’ve been caring for my mother-in-law with dementia for 3 years and wanted to add overnight care, ideally a carer who speaks her her mother tongue. The care advocate at KareHero listened to what mattered to us and after one false start came back with an agency that had someone available. Within a week we had an intro meeting; 2 weeks later she’d started. Knowing we’re not ‘on duty’ 24/7 anymore is a glimmer of light, cost is the big challenge ahead.
KareHero have just been fantastic in having someone to speak to about the different care needs of my grandmother. They have helped me understand the financial situation, think about planning for the future, and also reassured me I am doing the right things. In that sense, I am feeling more confident about the future and would like to continue my relationship with them.
The care advocate at KareHero was great at listening and understanding what was important to us. We needed to find a live-in carer who could speak Sinhala for my mother-in-law with dementia, not an easy task. the care advocate came back with an agency that had someone available. Within a week we had an introductory meeting with my MIL, they hit it off, and 2 weeks later she has started!
The care advocate has been respectful and kind throughout, answering all my questions and making herself available whenever convenient. She gave me direction on Adult Social Care and financial assessments that would otherwise have been very confusing. Knowing there is someone there to support you every step of the way has been a huge help and emotional support.
The service I got was responsive, efficient, compassionate, supportive and made a really difficult time much easier.
Karehero’s advisers gave me confidence in the path I was following and additional ideas and understanding of my options. They were well informed, strong, empathetic and available when I needed to talk. I really appreciated their support
Thank you so much for this service, it’s excellent. It has been helpful and the call has been very clear. You have been very friendly and that has made it a nice process. I am very grateful for the referral to your service.
By the end of the call I felt like some of the weight of being a carer had been lifted from my shoulders. Just speaking to someone who knows what we are going through and who understands how to navigate the complex system was incredible! I am extremely grateful to have this opportunity with KareHero.
I have been through a lot in the past 10 years and I wish I had this service long ago. I am so glad that I have your support now. As soon as I watched the video I knew this service would make a big difference for me. Thank you to you all, you are all wonderful to listen to such hard situations and be able to continue offering advice and support.
It was surprisingly emotional speaking with you this morning, but I can honestly say that having done so I was somewhat relieved and definitely reassured. I found that being given the opportunity to discuss my experiences and circumstances with you was very beneficial. Thank you for listening and providing me with information to support my challenging journey.
Wow this is an amazing service, I can’t believe this. I am so grateful. I attended the webinar at work and I really hope this becomes a long term benefit for us. I am so impressed and will definitely be using your care and funding service.
Mum was successful in her claim and qualified for the higher rate. Just wanted to say thank you so much for all your help and support with this, it’s so daunting filling out these forms but you made it all so much clearer and easier for me. I really did feel supported.

Frequently asked questions
Will this affect my other benefits or my tax?
Attendance Allowance is tax-free. It isn't means-tested, so your income, savings and pension make no difference to eligibility. Being awarded Attendance Allowance can unlock extra amounts in Pension Credit, Housing Benefit or Council Tax Reduction, and it may allow someone who cares for you to claim Carer's Allowance.
Couldn't I just do this myself?
Yes, and plenty of people do. The hard part isn't the paperwork; it's knowing how to frame the help you need. We walk through a real day with you, ensure you are capturing all the details, and support your application from end-to-end.
What if I've already been turned down?
A refusal often isn't the end. You can support reconsideration requests if within one month of the decision letter.
How do I know you're not a scam?
A sensible question to ask. Your money never touches us. Attendance Allowance is paid by the DWP straight into your own bank account, and there's no mechanism for a third party to divert it. Before anything starts you'll have the chance to speak to the team, an advisor will assigned to you and you pay only if the claim is successful.
KareHero benefit advisers have been helping families since 2016.
